‘Exactly what we’re looking for’: Lots of West Ham fans would be in favour of signing ‘beast’ this summer

West Ham United fans on Twitter all appear to be in favour of trying to sign Wout Weghorst this summer if their reactions to him are anything to go by.

The Wolfsburg striker is thought to be a player that we have been watching recently (exWHUemployee) as he tore up the Bundesliga in his debut season with the German outfit.

As we previously wrote in an article here on Vital West Ham, we would be in complete favour of a move for the Dutch striker as his goalscoring record is truly remarkable and he is the type of player we would surely love to have in our squad at the London Stadium.

The 26-year-old managed to bag an impressive 17 goals and seven assists in his debut year for Wolfsburg across 34 matches (Transfermarkt) last season as he continued that fine record – he scored 27 goals in 2017/1818 in the 16/17 campaign and 15 in the 15/16 season.

We also mentioned he could be the ideal man to replace Marko Arnautovic this summer as the two are similar with their styles of play (Weghorst likes to hold the ball up and is strong in the air (3.4 duals won on average per game)), but he would also have to be considered an upgrade as he is clearly more prolific in front of goal than the Austrian.

And, it would seem many of our fans would be in favour of seeing him don the Claret and Blue in the upcoming season if we were to make a move for him.

One fan stated that they thought Weghorst was a ‘beast’ whilst others admitted that they would be ‘happy’ with signing him this summer.

Here are just some of those reactions…
