Hammers Match Zone

Swansea City 4 West Ham United 1

The right words, at this moment in time, are hard to find.

After making the epic voyage west, in conditions that were the worst this country has experienced for many a year, yesterday, I kind of hoped that the Hammers would reward those fans who follow them in all weathers.

After all, it was only Swansea City we were playing a side struggling in the bottom three and a side we should, considering our aspirations, beat.

But no, to say West Ham were shambolic would be an under-statement!

What the side dished up today was dross and now those fears about relegation are looking more ominous by the game.

Don`t give me that old clap-trap that we`re too good to go down because on the performance we showed today, we`ve a poor team and a squad that is lacking depth.

Swansea were ahead inside eleven minutes when a shot from Ki Sung-yueng went in, the lead was doubled when Mike van der Hoorn took advantage of some non-existent marking in the Hammers box.

The second half saw Swansea continue the rout when Adrian saved a header from the former Hammer, Andre Ayew, but Andy King was on hand to tap home.

Matters went from bad to worse when Kouyate conceded a penalty and Jordan Ayew made no mistake form the penalty spot.

Michail Antonio got a consolation goal for the Hammers but it was far too little far too late and we`re left to return to London licking our wounds and worrying about our Premier League status.
