‘No brainer’, ‘maverick’: Lots of West Ham fans would love club to sign ‘bonkers’ man

West Ham United fan account West Ham Place have asked supporters on Twitter if they would be in favour of signing Mario Balotelli this summer and it seems a vast number of them would.

The Italian forward is currently a free agent after leaving Olympique de Marseille (Instagram) and considering that he is only 28-years-old, he could still be an attractive option for the Hammers to think about.

It is not the first time his name has popped up in conversations regarding us either; reliable insider ExWHUemployee once revealed in a podcast for The West Ham Way last month (12 June) that Balotelli was on our list of targets if we were to fail in our pursuit of Maxi Gomez.

The Italy international had an exceptional six-month spell with Marseille last season as he found the back of the net eight times in his 15 appearances for them towards the back end of the campaign (Transfermarkt).

Furthermore, he has experience of playing in the Premier League with the likes of Liverpool and Manchester City, where he played under Manuel Pellegrini.

His temperament is something that could be considered a risk as he can sometimes become difficult to work with, however, the Chilean might be able to control that better than other managers have been able to do so in the past because of their previous relationship.

And, it would seem plenty of West Ham fans would be all for a move to the London Stadium should the club decide to try and acquire him this summer.

Some fans were ‘100%’ behind the idea of signing Balotelli, whilst others believed he would be a ‘cracking fit’ for the club next season.

Here are just some of their reactions…
