‘Here we go again’ – These West Ham fans ‘cannot see’ transfer for ‘perfect’ player happening

|

William Carvalho is a name that West Ham United know rather well.

We tried to sign the then-Sporting Lisbon midfielder back in 2017, however, as we all know, it was a transfer saga that left a sour taste in the mouth of many as things between the owners of each club got a little heated.

Nuno Saraiva, who is no longer at Sporting incidentally, was reported to have called David Sullivan a ‘liar’ and a ‘parasite’ over the whole ordeal two summers ago (Independent).

Now at Real Betis, Carvalho has continued to excel after having an excellent campaign that culminated in helping Portugal to lift the inaugural Nations League earlier this summer.

Indeed, that seems to have reignited the interest of West Ham, according to a report by Estadio Deportivo. They claim we would be interested in signing him should we let Declan Rice leave the London Stadium and could be available for a fee around €30million (£26.7m).

They also suggest a move cannot be ruled out despite Carvalho being happy to remain in Betis.

It would be difficult to see us allowing our young star to leave the club any time soon, so, surely it would have to be unlikely that we will see the Portugal international in the claret and blue in the near future either.

And, by looking at the fans’ reactions on Twitter, it would seem as though they share the same opinion regarding a deal for the 27-year-old.

One fan appeared to be able to sum up the situation perfectly by stating ‘here we go again’, whilst others admitted they would love for him to join us but could not see it happening because of our transfer budget. Here are some of their reactions…
