Gary Medel’s name is never going to be too far away from West Ham United this transfer window, is it?
The Beskitas midfielder has continued to be linked with a move to the London Stadium since last winter and despite the fact that all of our recent alleged targets have all been quality individuals with years ahead of him – the Chile international is one that is still thought to be on our radar.
A report by Fanatik (via Sport Witness) had claimed Manuel Pellegrini is insistent that West Ham sign his compatriot this summer, however, we previously wrote in an article here on Vital that he is not the type of player that we should be going for.
To summarise what we previously said about Medel: we feel that we can attract better players who are younger and have more quality to offer us in the future, whilst it would be difficult to see him in the first-team with Declan Rice and now likely Pablo Fornals – who looks as though he will be joining us imminently.
And, it would seem a section of our fans on Twitter also echo the same thoughts as us regarding the experienced Chile international.
One of them stated that they felt it went against what the club were trying to achieve with their new look on recruitment, whilst another fan commented that they just have to laugh. A couple of the supporters also pointed out that they were hardly surprised Medel’s name had popped up in the rumour mill once again. Here are some of their reactions…
I don’t really think the transfer window is properly open until we are linked with Gary Medel.

Hope not. Goes against the clubs new policy of buying young players.

Wonderful ???? so we needed a quality partner for Rice but they cost too much so let’s get yet another AM cos he’s cheaper & sign yet another dross old DCM because he’s available at the charity shop & a bargain. Got to laugh ???? not to mention ignoring our RB/LB weaknesses ????????????????

Geo, We have trouble getting any players with no European matches and money available. Needs to aim sites lower on good young players with strength, speed, and penetration with there ball passing. No more crabs doing side to side passing and backward.

Knew he was gonna pop up again ????

Probably be replaced with yet another crap signing like Medel. Bloody hell does our club waste money on pointless signings. The list is endless.
