Success could be on the cards if West Ham meet their ambitious target – Opinion

|

West Ham United appear to have set themselves a hugely ambitious target – to get all their business done within a ten day period.

Claret and Hugh have reported that a senior club source has revealed to them that Manuel Pellegrini is keen to get all his targets through the door early and that they expect to resolve the situation within the next 7 to 10 days.

In an email written to them, the insider said: “We expect to resolve the situation within 7-10 days and we have five or six targets. The manager wants to attack teams and is looking for creative midfielders and we expect to get them done quickly.”

Although the idea of getting all their business done early would benefit us hugely, it might even be a stretch too ambitious for us to be able to complete.

Whilst deals for David Martin and Roberto have all been concluded and it is thought we are close to signing Hasan Ali Kaldirim and Pablo Fornals, it would seem negotiations for Celta de Vigo’s Maxi Gomez could take a little longer to complete and it would not surprise us if they were to be dragged out over the course of the summer by the La Liga side.

The Spanish outfit knows how much demand there is for their Uruguayan ace this summer – with El Desmarque claiming Valencia have started to negotiate about a possible deal –  and it would not be a shock if they were to try and hold out for as long as possible before accepting any potential offer for him.

If we can land him before our pre-season gets underway and give Pellegrini everyone he needs within the next ten days, we could be in for a very exciting and hopefully, a successful campaign.

The manager would have some quality time with his new recruits, where they would be able to get an understanding of what he demands and what his style of play is all about and have the time to put it into action on the training pitch.

That time could be valuable in helping us to break into the top seven next year as we should not be in the same position as last year where it took our fifth Premier League match to reap any rewards of our new era.
