Austrian international striker Marko Arnautovic has revealed this week that he has been playing through the pain barrier as he’s being dogged by an ongoing injury issue at the moment.
He has an inflammation on the knee, along with a bit of bruising but he insisted in a recent interview that although he couldn’t train very often, he was willing to continue playing through pain for the club and his country in upcoming matches.
Marko Arnautovic: “The knee is not the best, I’m fit, I can play, but I’m not training a lot. Here I try to recover my knee. It’s going to take some time, I’ve got some inflammation in my bone but I am always ready to play on the weekend so it’s just one of those things.” pic.twitter.com/wQfkRUWY9O

With four goals in seven games following our poor start, this is the exact problem many fans (across football) have when it comes to international breaks – we pay his wages, why doesn’t he get this fortnight off to rest instead of having to travel and potentially make the problem worse.
Whilst a number of fans on social media are pleased with his commitment and desire to play, they also know it’s probably in our long-term interests to let him recover properly.

please don't make it worse than it is so you are out for weeks rather than a couple of weeks…..

He didn’t look match fit against Brighton – I wonder why that is now

Should be withdrawn from international duty and have an actual rest tbh https://t.co/tVl69iKFmb

I doubt he’ll actually get that chance in fairness.
