West Ham’s transfer policy has raised eyebrows in recent seasons but the club seems to have fared better in the first few months of Manuel Pellegrini’s reign.
The Chilean boss significantly overhauled the Hammers’ attacking ranks after his arrival in the summer, drafting in Felipe Anderson, Andriy Yarmolenko and Lucas Perez to provide depth in the final third.
With Javier Hernandez and Andy Carroll still in the squad, there wasn’t any room for Jordan Hugill, a questionable signing by David Moyes in January, and the former Preston man was shipped on loan to Championship promotion-chasers Middlesbrough.
The 26-year-old has struggled to find his feet back in the second tier, both figuratively and literally, as he has failed to score in 10 league appearances this season and was criticised by Tony Pulis for going over too dramatically.
Middlesbrough fans were quick to respond to Pulis’ comments, thankful that he is finally seeing what they have noticed, and plenty took to social media to criticise the West Ham loanee.
We have gathered some of the best reactions below.
Thank goodness we have finally had acknowledgement; it is, frankly, embarrassing to see a brawny Teessider launch himself the way he does

Took him long enough to spot that, he’s done it in every game he’s played

It’s his only contribution. He thinks it is strategic! Well done Tony Pulis for his action ……the crowd know about Hugill. He is not a favourite, he got lucky as he is not good enough for #MFC
