West Ham have undergone a significant overhaul in the first few months of Manuel Pellegrini’s spell in charge, where the Chilean boss has splashed over £100m on new additions.
Plenty were also ousted from the London Stadium after some questionable signings by the Hammers in recent years, one of which was the signing of experienced defender Jose Fonte from Southampton in January 2017.
Fonte left prior to Pellegrini’s arrival, having failed to make a positive impact at the club, and has since bounced around clubs by spending a short stint with Chinese side Dalian Yifang before returning to the European game earlier this year by joining Lille.
Now, shock reports from Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo suggest the Portugal international is a target for LaLiga champions Barcelona – and it is fair to say the reports have left West Ham fans completely baffled.
