Ryan Fredericks has had a few injury issues since he signed for West Ham, and the latest one has just struck, as the Hammers’ right-back faces six weeks on the sidelines after undergoing successful surgery to shoulder ligament damage that he suffered against Manchester City (whufc.com).
We can confirm that Ryan Fredericks has had successful surgery on his shoulder injury and is expected to return to action in around six weeks.

The reaction from the supporters has been very mixed, though, many fans have been taking the positives from this blow to Fredericks, as it means that the impressive young Jeremy Ngakia will be set to step into the right-back role for the extended period after a couple of strong performances.
Some fans, though, have been using this as a stick to beat Fredericks. The Englishman hasn’t been in amazing form for the Irons as of late, and whilst he’s undoubtedly a top player when he’s at his best, we just haven’t seen enough of that, and this absence could be seen as a good thing for most.
Is Ryan Fredericks good enough?
Yes
No
You can read the Irons’ thoughts on the injury latest here:
What with Fredericks’ injury absence length now confirmed, Ngakia needs to be West Ham’s first choice RB between now and the end of the season, as opposed to Zabaleta.

The fans wouldn’t wish injury on any of their squad, but having Ngakia set for minutes does look like a huge boost.
