News: West Ham given massive boost by updated shopping list of footballing giant

|

West Ham fans have long had fears that Declan Rice will be leaving them before long. The impressive young defensive midfielder has proven himself in the top flight as both a central defender and as a midfielder in front of the back four, and with great performances come great admirers.

The rumours have swirled over the last year or so that Manchester United could be set to try and break the bank to bring in the West Ham academy man (Sky Sports), and whilst that would come at a huge cost to the Manchester side, it would certainly do more harm than good at the London Stadium.

However, the latest news that has come out of Manchester United’s pursuit of Rice has come from the Manchester Evening News, and they’ve reported that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has dropped his interest in Rice, as well as another young Englishman Sean Longstaff, as they prepare for a summer of spending.

The article does claim that the Red Devils are looking to sign four players, including a defensive midfielder, although it clearly states that they’re looking past both Rice and Longstaff, despite the interest they had in the pair last summer.

Will we keep Declan Rice leave over the summer?

Yes

No

The report states:

‘As well as an attacking midfielder, it’s understood that United are seeking a defensive midfielder and two forwards.’

‘If United decide Grealish is their number one target in attacking midfield, however, there must be a back-up option who they are equally happy to sign. Leicester’s James Maddison springs to mind.’

‘The same will go for the forward positions, where Jadon Sancho and Moussa Dembele have been targets in recent months, but two more options must be identified if those deals prove to be unworkable.’

‘And in defensive midfield too, with United likely to look beyond last summer’s targets, Sean Longstaff and Declan Rice.’
