West Ham have struggled to find their rhythm so far this season under Manuel Pellegrini, winning just two of their opening 10 Premier League matches and floating in the bottom half of the standings.
While there have been some positives to take from the performances, especially in the draw with Chelsea and the victory over Manchester United, the lack of consistency is proving to be a major concern for the Hammers.
Only four sides in the top-flight have scored less goals than West Ham’s tally of nine, which has identified a lack of a cutting-edge in the final third for Pellegrini’s side and has left some fans reminiscing about a former favourite.
The Premier League’s official account tweeted a video of Dimitri Payet’s superb goal against Middlesbrough in October 2016 and it attracted plenty of responses from fans who admitted they missed the France international.
We have gathered some of the best reactions below.
