West Ham have faced a stern test fighting for consistency this season after losing six of their opening 12 matches.
Positive signs have been shown since Manuel Pellegrini’s £100m spending spree in the summer but there is still work to be done, with a number of players within the squad arguably not being up to scratch.
One of those is Michail Antonio, a player who excelled in Slaven Bilic’s years in East London but has struggled to kick on since – falling down the pecking order after the signings of Marko Arnautovic, Felipe Anderson and Andriy Yarmolenko.
Despite the competition for places, Antonio has still managed to feature in 11 Premier League matches this season but his performances have left a lot to be desired and he is still waiting to find the net in the league.
Crystal Palace have long been linked with interest in the 28-year-old and many fans urged the club to cash in as those reports emerged once again.
