West Ham are undergoing a revival with Manuel Pellegrini at the helm but have found things difficult in the early months of his tenure.
The Hammers splashed in excess of £100m during the summer transfer window but, despite some positives, have struggled to find consistency in their Premier League campaign so far.
Further expenditure is expected in January and defensive reinforcements could be on the cards after another suggestion that experienced full-back Pablo Zabaleta will retire at the end of the current campaign.
West Ham signed Ryan Fredericks on a free transfer from Fulham before the start of the season to provide competition to the veteran defender but the 33-year-old has still featured in nine league games this term, with Fredericks appearing on just four occasions.
Zabaleta’s fine form has kept Fredericks’ opportunities limited and many fans believe the former Manchester City man still has enough in the tank to remain a useful asset, as they earn the South American to reconsider his stance.
