West Ham have struggled for consistency so far this season and are battling to find their feet under the guidance of Manuel Pellegrini.
The former Manchester City coach splashed in excess of £100m during the summer transfer window to rejuvenate the squad and, despite some positive signs, further investment looks necessary in the New Year.
It seems West Ham are looking to save some funds by bolstering their depth with a move for former Arsenal and Manchester City man Samir Nasri, who has been tipped to join the Hammers on a free transfer in January.
Returning from an 18-month suspension, Nasri’s potential move to the London Stadium certainly raises some eyebrows and some fans have connected the dots between the potential signing and the inability to secure Declan Rice to a new contract.
The 19-year-old has become a vital asset for the East London side and plenty of fans made it clear they would prefer to secure the future of their academy graduate over signing another veteran.
We have gathered some of the best reactions below.
@davidgold Mr Gold don't you think we should be sorting out Declan rice contract out instead of chasing up some 80 grand a week has been who by all accounts is totally unfit take him about 3 months to get up to speed

Give Rice a new contract before you announce Nasri or this is the worst PR move ever @davidgold @jsullivanwhu

So we’re willing to pay Nasri 4-5 million a year yet we’re stalling on Rice’s contract? Great logic.. @davidgold

Signing Samir Nasri would be a decent option for us in the midfield. But a new contract given to Declan Rice would be even better.

Rushing to sign Nasri on £80k a week and stalling over Rice’s new contract😉 the circus is back in town 🤡 #WHUFC

The potential signing of Nasri is clouded by the clubs incompetence in agreeing a new & deserved deal with Declan Rice.
