Plenty of West Ham United fans have been heaping praise on former Hammers’ striker Demba Ba upon reflection of his career in East London.
COYIrons asked the London Stadium faithful on Twitter what their opinions are of the former Senegal international, who now plays in football for the Turkish Super Lig side Basaksehir.
Ba was brought in from the German Bundesliga outfit Hoffenheim in 2011 on a four-year contract for an undisclosed fee but only scored seven goals in 13 appearances for us before moving to Newcastle United after refusing a £50,000-per-week salary to stay at Upton Park.
Was Demba Ba a success for West Ham?
Yes
No
After his exit, Ba went on to excel in the Premier League, find the net 29 times for the Magpies and 14 times for Chelsea. He was another case of what might have been at West Ham.
With this in mind, supporters were full of praise for Ba and made their feelings clear on social media. One fan said that he was one of co-owner David Sullivan’s signings that “actually went right”, while another described him as an “excellent player”.
very good striker could of been ours for years if Avram wasn’t so useless at his job

Pity he didn’t stay longer. Real good goal scorer

Great finisher one of Sullivan’s transfers that actually went right but as usual not clever enough to keep

An excellent player, but somehow we didn’t get as much from him as we could have
