‘Incoming 4m bid’ – Lots of West Ham fans react as Irons told price needed for 22-goal target

|

Lots of West Ham United supporters have been reacting on social media following reports Queens Park Rangers will demand at least £20million for star forward Eberechi Eze.

Eze has emerged as a potential target for David Moyes’ West Ham rebuild after excelling for QPR in the Championship this season, having scored 14 times and provided eight assists over 46 appearances.

But the 22-year-old will not be allowed to leave Loftus Road on the cheap, as West London Sport have reported QPR will demand at least £20m and are hoping it will start a bidding war for their star player’s signature.

West Ham and Crystal Palace are believed to have each made official enquires into Eze’s availability this summer, to which they were informed that any offer under the minimum asking price would be seen as wasting Rangers’ time.

Eze has entered the final 12-months of his current contract in West London, but QPR hold an option to extend his terms by a further year and strengthen their stance in any transfer talks.

West Ham are also believed to be interested in a deal for Brentford winger Said Benrahma, though it remains to be seen if the Hammers move for either player.

Lots of Irons supporters on social media have reacted to West London Sport’s report of QPR’s £20m valuation by suggesting their side should do whatever it takes to make Eze a Hammer – and would be even happier to see the London-born talent signed alongside Benrahma.

Brentford’s sensational Algerian winger enjoyed an even strong campaign in the Championship this season than Eze managed, with Benrahma notching 17 goals and nine assists in 43 games.

Benrahma is now set to help Brentford challenge for promotion in the Play-Offs when they host Swansea on Wednesday night looking to overturn the 1-0 deficit from the First-Leg.

Here are some of the messages shared as Hammers supporters reacted online…

Not every West Ham fan agrees with one another that Benrahma would be as worthwhile a signing as Eze, with some arguing that the QPR man is the far better option than the Algerian two years his elder despite the statistics suggesting otherwise.

While Benrahma averaged 2.1 key passes, 3.8 shots, 3.1 successful dribbles, 0.8 accurate crosses and 1.1 tackles per second-tier game this season, WhoScored data shows Eze registered 1.8 key passes, 2.2 shots, 3.0 successful dribbles, 1.2 accurate crosses and 1.2 tackles.

Reports suggesting QPR will find any bid lower than £20m for Eze to be insulting has led some West Ham fans to believe their club will either present a lowball offer or end up signing neither the Rangers star or Brentford ace Benrahma.
