All good things must come to an end eventually, and for Robert Snodgrass and Scotland, their affiliation ends now.

The West Ham winger announced on his Instagram page that he will be retiring from the Tartan Army after this international break eight years after breaking into the Scotland squad during his Leeds United years, with Snodgrass’ announcement coming just a few days after Steve Clarke side’s 6-0 win against European minnows San Marino.
With Scotland undergoing massive change both on and off the pitch, Snodgrass’ retirement not come as a surprise to many, yet many West Ham fans on social media praised the 32-year-old attacker for his decision as well as took the chance to take a slight dig of the home nation due to some of their poor results in recent months that have seemingly doomed the Tartan Army to enough year with no participation in a major international competition.

Snodgrass was not involved in Sunday’s 6-0 demolishing of San Marino that saw Aston Villa midfielder Josh McGinn bag a hat-trick for Scotland.
