‘Dude is as slow as Carroll’ – Loads of West Ham fans react to suggested targets

|

Being held to a draw by Harvey Barnes’ stoppage-time equaliser has all but ended our hopes of qualifying for Europe this season, and attentions on the R/Hammers Reddit page have firmly swung to the summer.

Supporters on the social media platform have been reacting recently to a shortlist drawn up by one fan, who has suggested we could launch various raids on Fulham and Huddersfield following their relegations back to the Championship.

We could also look to the Championship elect sides like Cardiff and Brighton, with the Bluebirds and Seagulls both on the cusp of falling from the top-flight on the back of their uninspiring campaigns.

Huddersfield would present the smallest talent pool, it has to be said, with Aaron Mooy the most obvious candidate to be on the move in the summer, having stood out for the Terriers when fit.

Cardiff would also be slim on players who could improve our ranks going forward, with Victor Camarasa one that may be worth picking up.

Callum Paterson’s versatility may also be appealing to some come the summer, but he would be a very similar option to Michail Antonio, and he has hardly got Manuel Pellegrini’s full trust or the admiration of every supporter.

Fulham, meanwhile, are packed with talented individuals, but they failed to make it work in the Premier League on enough occasions to stay afloat, and those who could improve our squad would likely not be cheap.

Even top goalscorer Aleksandar Mitrovic has unappealing aspects, beyond his price tag, as while he may have scored eleven times in the top-flight, he has done so via the most shots of any player with 123.

For comparison, the league-leading Mohamed Salah and Sergio Aguero have 19 goals from 120 and 101 shots respectively, while Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang has scored 19 times from 82 efforts.

When U/Primal666 shared on Reddit that Mooy, Mitrovic and Jean Michael Seri may be good additions to our squad, here’s what was said…
