Crocked star could leave West Ham as Irons linked with £22m ace – opinion

Samir Nasri’s time with us may soon be over, as Calciomercato have linked the Hammers with a move for TSG Hoffenheim’s Kerem Demirbay.

The Italian outlet have noted that both, Wolverhampton Wanderers and us, have shown an interest of late in the attacking midfielder, who has previously been followed by AS Roma.

The Giallorossi’s current stance is not noted, however, and a move for the German could spell bad news for Nasri, as his future in East London was already uncertain after suffering yet another injury setback.

There had been reports that we were willing to offer the former Manchester City title-winning midfielder a contract extension, but Manuel Pellegrini has since stated “about next season, I don’t know,” when asked for an update on the situation.

Given how well Nasri is paid to be in our treatment room, keeping him on the books while adding a third attacking midfielder would be a questionable move by the club, as we are not expected to be flush with funds in the summer.

Hoffenheim are in no dire need to sell Demirbay, either, as they tied the 25-year-old down to a long-term contract last April, which runs until 2022.

If Pellegrini is keen on him, though, we may have to trigger his £22million release clause, which Bild have claimed is attracting the interest of Arsenal, as they look for replacements to Aaron Ramsey.

Clubs in Turkey are also said to be keen on Demirbay, as he has scored four goals and assisted a further seven in the Bundesliga this season.

The Germany international, who also represented Turkey at various youth levels, is also averaging 3.6 key passes, 3.1 dribbles and 2.7 shots every 90 minutes in the Bundesliga.
