West Ham fans have long been hoping that they might see Benfica’s Gedson Fernandes in claret and blue by the end of January, however, now it seems that Portuguese midfielder is set to sign for a different Premier League London club.
Couldn’t really face doing this earlier so put it off: Spurs are the leading the way to sign Fernandes. Ever since his availability became clear his agent had been pumping out his availability to most clubs (and sky) in order to generate interest. (Page 1)

That club, as you will have guessed, is Tottenham. The Lilywhites, according to ExWHUemployee, are leading the race for the young midfielder, and from here it’s hard to see a way in which David Moyes’ side can get the jump on Jose Mourinho’s side.
The Hammers are going to have to dig in and re-asses their options in the transfer market and start to look elsewhere if they want a new central midfielder, and whilst that’s not ideal given the interest in Gedson, it’s just the way football goes sometimes.
Fellaini then, Hammers, thoughts?
Could be handy
No way
You can read the Hammers’ thoughts on Gedson and Spurs here:
I’m as anti board as anyone but really can’t see what people are upset about with this one. Mendes is his agent and also Mourinho’s agent. Agents run football and make it almost impossible to smash and grab transfer these players from big clubs. Best off without him.

Let’s be honest, it doesn’t matter who we bring in. If we keep playing the way we are and not pushing any of our midfield forward enough and have no real desire to win games, we could sign Messi and Ronaldo and we would still be shit. Need the mentality to change first.

We might end up with Fellaini out of China then? And Allen. And a Randolph with the same kind of injury as Fab and keeper Allen. The drop is looming…

If he wasnt that bothered about joining us then I dont want him. As much as I like young players with potential, we dont have time to develop them at the moment and need proven players who are ready to step in to the team.

The Irons have got very little time for players who don’t want to play for them and Gedson falls into that category.
