Perennial treatment room regular set for fresh West Ham deal despite new potential blow – report

Samir Nasri has hardly been seen on the field since his debut in January, and despite suffering another potential injury, Football Insider understands the perennial treatment room regular will be offered a new contract.

They are reporting information offered to them by a source inside the club, who has claimed that Manuel Pellegrini has been impressed with what he has seen from his former Manchester City star, and believes the drug-shamed midfielder can make an even more significant impact on the Hammers next term.

The word is that we will offer the 41-cap ex-France international a two-year extension to the six-month deal he agreed to in the winter, although it is not stated whether that will still be on the £75,000-a-week Football Insider notes he currently earns.

When Nasri has been fit, he has offered a few glimpses that he retained his ability from his last stint as a professional footballer, but those appearances have been thin and far between. The 31-year-old has, altogether, played 246 minutes in the Premier League from the 990 that have been on offer since he became an Irons player.

His next outing at the London Stadium could be a while off yet, too, as Pellegrini confirmed during his pre-Everton press conference on Thursday that the Marseille-born creator has a problem with his calf that needs assessing.

Since making his debut, Nasri has made three starts in the Premier League, the last of which came against his former side, Manchester City, on February 27.
