‘Another January panic’ – West Ham fans react to club’s latest transfer reports

West Ham United fans have been reacting to recent reports suggesting that the club has launched a bid for Sheffield United’s John Fleck.

Sky Sports News reported on Monday that a £4million offer was lodged for the 27-year-old midfielder, as Manuel Pellegrini seeks late improvements to his roster in East London.

The offer was instantly understood to be rejected by the Blades, however, with the Yorkshire Post continuing the story later in the day, noting that Sheffield United are reluctant to lose an influential member of Chris Wilder’s side during a promotion push

So far this season, the former Scotland youth international has recorded 37 tackles, 33 interceptions and 35 key passes in 28 Championship games.

Some fans, though, took particular concern with the suggested deal after the Hammers signed Jordan Hugill from Preston North End on deadline day last January, and that transfer really did not work out for the East London outfit.

The 26-year-old went on to record just three appearances in claret and blue under David Moyes, before being sent on a season-long loan to Middlesbrough by Manuel Pellegrini last summer.
