Many West Ham United fans believe that midfielder Declan Rice should inherit the captain’s armband from Mark Noble.
The Hammers slipped one place closer to the relegation zone to 17th in the Premier League table after their 2-0 defeat at the hands of Wolves at the London Stadium on Saturday, making their already treacherous battle against the drop even harder.
Raul Jimenez and Pedro Neto ensured that West Ham’s miserable run continued, with just two victories from their last 12 games in all competitions.
Who should be the club captain?
Mark Noble
Declan Rice
With this in mind, Rice spoke after the game about his team’s loss and appeared to inherit the responsibility of the team, insisting that he has got to be a leader in this squad. West Ham News said on Twitter that he deserves to be given the captain’s armband as a result.
Because of this, supporters agreed with their statement and made their feelings clear on social media. One fan said that “Noble has to go” with the season looking like it is on a severe decline, while another described him as “better in every aspect”.

Should’ve been done at the start of the season https://t.co/Q16GG1sURy

It speaks volumes that Rice says HE has to talk and HE has to be a leader – one of the youngest players in the team. It tells you that all the other good/experienced players have no personality and cant pump themselves up on their own. Passive. Zero psychology in the team. Awful

Tell them to put some effort in

In my opinion, bar penalties and the odd good pass he doesn’t have a positive effect on games and for a captain who talks the talk his performances are average. Declan Rice is the here and now and is better in every aspect. Noble has to go.
