Yesterday evening saw West Ham United go into their second game of the decade, and the second game of the David Moyes era, with a three at the back system. This game as the Hammers made a total of three changes from his side’s win over Bournemouth, and after the game, the result was the same.
Thoughts on the 3 at the back system?

It will ultimately be up to Moyes to decide whether or not the best way to move forward is with a three or a four-man defensive line, but the fans have reacted very well to seeing their side change it up at the back, most likely because they’ve now got two clean sheets from two games.
The Hammers have got the calibre of player and the type of players to switch between both a three or a four at the back, and that gives the club a real ability to switch up their tactical approach, something that the fans have really taken to.
Will Moyes turn our season around?
Yes
No
You can read the Irons’ thoughts on the three at the back system here:
Worked well today. Soaked up pressure by having an extra man to clean up. Under MP we’d have conceded and lost. But we defended well under their pressure. Thankfully we made it count up the other end. He won’t always okay that but worked today in that kind of game.

Very strong in reality. Best defending from set pieces for a long time. Dominating in the air. Good seeing Oggy pushing forward too. With more work on the training field could pay off. Thought 1st half looked bad as Arthur wasn’t pushing it. Much better all round 2nd half.

On a proper pitch could work well tbf

Early days but it was the right formation for tonight’s game. Moyes will work on it like he did last time he was here

I like the concept with our 3 CB and Masuaku. I think it’s going to take awhile to get comfortable going forward.

Could definitely work. Looked slightly disjointed tonight but with more time it could really suit us.

The Hammers have got a lot of time for Moyes and the change of defensive system, especially if they continue keeping their opposition out.
