‘Who is available in our price range?’ – Loads of West Ham fans debate signings for problem position

|

Some West Ham fans have been debating on social media who they club could sign in the summer to improve one of Manuel Pellegrini’s problem positions.

For a change, that position is not our striker, with all of our current centre-forward’s potentially on their way out of the London Stadium, but rather our left-back spot, with neither Arthur Masuaku nor Aaron Cresswell top-draw options.

The pair have enjoyed mixed seasons in East London under Pellegrini, with the boss handing each their fair share of games in the Premier League.

Cresswell has started the most top-flight fixtures this term with 18, compared to Masuaku’s 17, but has failed to impress defensively in those, with close to half the amount of successful tackles of our DR Congo international, although that comes from close to half the attempts of his younger teammate – Cresswell has made 1.6 tackles per 90 from 2.3 attempts.

Masuaku also edges his more experienced colleague for interceptions per 90, with 2.1 to 1.2, as well as clearances and successful dribbles, but loses out to Cresswell for fouls committed and crosses blocked.

With neither excelling, though, these fans asked for a new face to line-up in Claret and Blue next season…
