West Ham set to complete £35m-plus transfer before Bournemouth game

|

West Ham have developed nicely under the guidance of Manuel Pellegrini but they could be on the verge of suffering a significant loss during the January transfer window.

The Sun states that Marko Arnautovic will complete a proposed move to Chinese side Shanghai SIPG before the clash with Bournemouth this weekend, in a deal that will be worth in excess of £35m.

Arnautovic featured in last weekend’s 1-0 victory over Arsenal and appeared to wave goodbye to supporters at the London Stadium after he was substituted in the second half, with it widely reported that the 29-year-old wants to pursue a mega-money move to the Far East.

The Hammers had previously been adamant that Arnautovic was going nowhere, having lost star man Dimitri Payet in eerily similar circumstances in 2017, but have softened their stance after the Chinese side increased their offer.

Stoke City will earn 20% of any profit that West Ham will earn on the sale of a player they purchased for £20m, which means that a £35m fee would see the Potters land £3m.
