West Ham fans will have chance to watch top target against Italy

|

When West Ham are linked with a player, fans will usually want to get an idea of what the club will be getting if the move goes through.

Konstantinos Fortounis has been heavily linked with us following reports from Greek outlet SDNA, but it is unlikely the majority of the Hammers’ fan base will know of him, let alone have watched represent Olympiacos in the Greek Super League.

Therefore, YouTube highlight videos have been the order of the day for fans flocking to get a glimpse of what they can expect if a deal is completed for the Olympiacos captain.

Though there is nothing better than actually watching someone in a game, and Hammers supporters will have their first opportunity to see Fortounis in action as Greece face Italy in Euro 2020 qualifying action this weekend.

He has already been influential for Greece in their first two qualification encounters: scoring the opener in a 2-0 win against Lichtenstein with a well-taken volley, before winning and converting a penalty to help earn a 2-2 draw against Bosnia & Herzegovina.

The 26-year-old is Greece’s team captain and one of the most integral players in their team, so seeing him face Italy – who have won both of their opening qualifiers – will give Hammers fans their best indication yet of what he is capable of against top opposition.
