There hasn’t been much to celebrate at West Ham as of late. Poor results and poor individual performances have summed up our last few weeks, with a lot of improvement clearly needed.
Against Chelsea on Monday, there was no real suggestion that we’re an improving team, and so it’ll be up to Manuel Pellegrini and his team to finally turn a corner this weekend.
Fortunately, though, there’s at least something to celebrate ahead of the game. It’s nothing to do with the current West Ham team, unsurprisingly, but rather it concerns a former Hammer.
Yossi Benayoun has announced his retirement from football.
All the best, Yossi! pic.twitter.com/lQvjYLGy1R— West Ham United (@WestHamUtd) April 11, 2019
Yossi Benayoun, who played for us between 2005 and 2007 and in 2012, recently announced his retirement, and West Ham took to Twitter to commemorate his career. He was a good player for us, and you could argue that he was very underrated during his time in the Premier League.
Unsurprisingly, the ever-graceful West Ham faithful have sent more than a few messages to Benayoun, with most reminising on what was a wonderful career…
What a player!
