A few West Ham supporters have been reacting on social media, after the club revealed that Saturday’s 3-0 win at home to Southampton brought the curtain down on our most successful Premier League season at the London Stadium.
Beating the Saints ensured Manuel Pellegrini’s maiden home campaign came to an end with 31 points from a possible 57, having taken nine wins in Stratford – including resounding results against Manchester United and Arsenal, while holding Chelsea and Liverpool to draws.
Our 31 point haul also comes narrowly shy to that of our final term at Upton Park, where Slaven Bilic’s Hammers took 34 points as we bid farewell to our famous old home.
Since the 2015/16 season, we had only managed to post figures in the twenties, with 25 points in our first season at the London Stadium, and 27 in the following term. We also kicked off the current campaign with two defeats and a draw, but turned things around to win four of the following six on home soil and went unbeaten between January 2 and March 30.
Numbers through the turnstiles have also been high since Pellegrini took charge, with the club confirming that more than 1.1million supporters bought tickets for our 19 home Premier League games this season – an average in excess of 57,894.
But when the club’s official Twitter account shared that this has been our best campaign at the London Stadium, not every supporter saw reason to celebrate…
Getting better and better. Unbeaten with the new carpet as well.

To be fair, only 3 points worse off at home than in 15/16 is fairly impressive and better than I would have guessed. Well done Irons.

Yeah im happy we are doing better but not really ready to brag about how “well” we are doing. The win against Tottenham is the highlight but in all fairness we are still way off the mark for the expectation. Next season we need to really try for a cup.

That’s something to be proud of, like winning a fastest snail contest. pic.twitter.com/7kxq74ZsmD
