‘Should’ve kept him’, ‘Sorry to see him go’ – These West Ham fans react to claim 6ft ace is off

A few West Ham supporters have been reacting on social media after Hammers Updates shared a claim that Sam Byram is likely going to be sold in the summer.

It is thought the 6ft right-back could be on his way back to Nottingham Forest, whom he joined for the recently concluded campaign on loan and made eight appearances across all competitions after injuries played havoc with his season.

With Ryan Fredericks, Pablo Zabaleta and now Ben Johnson ahead of Byram in the pecking order in East London, though, the Daily Express previously suggested the Leeds academy graduate would be shown the exit door three-and-a-half years after we signed him for £4million.

The Nottingham Post have also run regular reports throughout May suggesting Forest would be looking to make his loan deal a permanent arrangement, as the 25-year-old’s late end-of-season return to action won over the club’s fanbase.

Byram, himself, has stated that he would be open to a prolonged stay at the City Ground, as well, but first has to sit down with Manuel Pellegrini and West Ham to see what our plans for the Thurrock-born defender are.

“I need to sit down in the summer with West Ham, because I do not know what their plans are for me,” he said. “Nothing has been said yet about my future yet. As far as I am aware, I will head back to West Ham, speak with the manager and go from there.”

For these fans, though, they believe his time in Claret and Blue has run its course…
