‘Same old West Ham’ – Many Irons supporters react to ExWHUemployee’s transfer claim

Many West Ham supporters have been reacting on social media after club insider ExWHUemployee claimed a move for Barcelona midfielder Andre Gomes remains unlikely at this stage.

Director of Football Mario Husillos was said to have made an £18million bid for the former Portugal international regular, but Sky Sports have since reported the offer was knocked back by his parent La Liga side.

Barcelona are thought to be holding out for a fee in the region of £25million to £35million, after he put together a solid campaign while on loan with Everton but still finds himself surplus to requirements at the Camp Nou.

While plying his trade at Goodison Park under Marco Silva, Gomes made 27 appearances in the Premier League, in which he scored once and assisted once.

Despite being rejected with our initial advance, Sky Sports do add that we are still intent on making a deal happen for the 25-year-old, and will do our utmost to add the Vila Nova de Gaia-born ace to Manuel Pellegrini’s ranks this summer.

ExWHUemployee has now backed up these claims, too, after noting on Monday that 6 ft 1 Gomes has moved ahead of the likes of Maxi Gomez and Aleksandar Mitrovic to become our top priority, and we could bid closer to £30million.

To help bridge the gap in offers, it is noted the board will sanction the sale of Spanish-born midfielder Pedro Obiang, but at this point, a deal for Gomes remains unlikely.
