West Ham United remain hopeful that teenage right-back Jeremy Ngakia will commit his future to the Hammers, according to reports.

The 19-year-old caught our surprise recently by rejecting a new deal at the London Stadium and hinted that he could walk away at the end of the season once his contract comes to an end following the conclusion of the 2019/20 campaign.

Ngakia has not had much game time for David Moyes’ side, in what is his debut season in the Premier League and with the Scottish tactician deeming him good enough to play for the first-team.

However, this has not stopped the youngster from becoming financially ambitious or possibly mislead by his agent.

According to Claret & Hugh, they received an email from a source close to the club which indicated that the club are in high spirits that they can extend Ngakia’s stay in East London.

Will Jeremy Ngakia be a success for West Ham?

No

The report added that the club are continuing conversations with his representatives to negotiate an appropriate, after wanting a basic wage of £20k-per-weeek.

Ngakia has made four appearances in the Premier League this season and has turned a few heads with those performances, particularly former West Ham striker Carlton Cole who described him as a player with “natural instinct“.

It is such a shame that young players with limited experience in the top-flight are in the position to dictate contract situations with clubs, because of their agents.

This is a significant moment in Ngakia’s career that could make or break him. Whatever happens, he will know deep down that he will get more game time at the London Stadium than he will anywhere else.
