West Ham United are believed to be monitoring the progress of the Chelsea midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko.

The former France international has been ostracised at Stamford Bridge as manager Frank Lampard decided against including him in his plans for the current campaign, and was loaned out to the Ligue 1 outfit AS Monaco as a result.

Before the French season came to an end, Bakayoko had scored just once and provided two assists in 20 appearances for Les Monégasques and it is unclear whether his time in Europe will be extended.

According to Le 10 Sport, West Ham, along with Paris Saint-Germain and AC Milan, are the sides that are taking a keen interest in Bakayoko and have been quoted a price of €35m (£31.4m), which is thought to be too expensive by the PSG sporting director Leonardo and will look for alternatives.

The report adds that David Moyes’ side are studying Bakayoko’s case “very closely” as it is believed he will be heading out on loan again next season. Predictably, AC Milan are leading the charge for his signature.

This is due to Bakayoko spending a season-long loan at the Italian giants for the 2018/19 campaign, where he managed just one goal and one assist from 26 starts and five outings from the bench.

It would be a challenge to capture the Frenchman due to the stiff competition that we may have to put up with and certainly would strengthen our line-up.

Whether he would come in to either replace Declan Rice, if he leaves, or plays alongside him, it will be interesting to see how Moyes will utilise him alongside the England international.
