Report: West Ham prepared to take major steps to offload injury-prone Jack Wilshere

|

Honestly, I’m surprised it’s taken them this long to make up their minds on the matter.

Although if I’m being brutally honest I was never a big fan of the move in the first place so perhaps I’m a little bit biased on the matter. I said yesterday that I wasn’t a fan of Callum Wilson because of his injury record, and when it comes to this man, well need I say more?

A report from The Times, West Ham United are looking to offload Jack Wilshere from the London Stadium, and are prepared to get drastic in order to do it.

Whilst one option would allow them to loan him out and eat a portion of his wages (because let’s be honest, with his injury record, we need all the help we can get in offloading), or perhaps even more radically, just buying him out of the rest of his contract and wiping our hands of the whole affair.

Should West Ham offload Wilshere for nothing?

Yes

No

I would support either move although I’d prefer the former. At the end of the day this goes back to what I have been saying recently when it comes to Issa Diop, this summer needs to be all about accumulating as much wealth as we can in order to start developing a much younger squad which is currently second in the league when it comes to average age. It would also allow us to carry on another philosophy I’ve been discussing which concerns David Moyes being given the freedom to set up his own team.

If we could shift just 30% of those wages, that would free up £30,000 per week which we could then in theory use to bring in someone on loan for the season to give us that boost of youth and energy that we desperately need.

What about you? What do you think is the best course of action for West Ham United to take in this situation?
