Report: West Ham linked with a move for Champions League playmaker

|

West Ham fans, let’s see what you make of this. We know that January is a very long way away, but that hasn’t stopped a few transfer rumours from surfacing. Whilst the Irons currently are not a Champions League side, doesn’t mean you can’t poach players who are, and that’s what’s going on here.

According to Mundo Deportivo, who have mainly reported on Barcelona’s interest in the man in question, West Ham are one of the sides who are looking at signing Dinamo Zagreb’s 22-year-old attacking midfielder Amer Gojak.

The Spanish outlet claim that the 22-year-old is considered to be: ‘among young people, a top footballer’ although considering he features in the Croatian league it’s hard to draw comparisons given the differing of quality between the 1.HNL and the Premier League.

It’s not just the Irons who are after this young starlet though. According to the report, there are plenty of European sides who are vying for the young Bosnian midfield man. In the Premier League Southampton are rivalling West Ham whilst on the continent Bayer Leverkusen, Schalke 04, Real Betis, Sevilla and Barcelona all fancy the Dinamo star.

In the week Gojak did feature in the Champions League, making just his fifth appearance in the Champions League proper, although he’s previously featured 12 times in the qualifying rounds of the competition, bagging two goals and two assists across those matches, as per Transfermarkt.

Give the interest in Gojak and his achievements to date, the Bosnian has already scored a trio of international goals in just eight caps for his country, it looks like he’s a few years away from becoming a household name, the Hammers will just be desperate to ensure that it happens with them and not one of the European sides who are also vying for his signature.
