Opinion: West Ham will have a massive boost when injured ace makes his return

|

West Ham fans, we know last season was the lowest of the low for you on the injury front, but things aren’t always that bad, and it looks there may be some good news for you on the horizon, as Michail Antonio is well on his way to making his return from a hamstring injury.

The ex-Nottingham Forest man has put together a very impressive career as an Iron, and has delivered the fans with some amazing moments in claret and blue, namely two winners against Tottenham, including one last season to make the Hammers the first side to win away at the new Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

When he’s on his game the 29-year-old winger/striker/full-back is one of the best players that West Ham have at their disposal, and it’s being reported that he might be back in around a month’s time, despite it being reported by Claret and Hugh that he could face five months out.

We all saw yesterday on the West Ham prankster’s Twitter account that he’s back at the training ground, as he posted a hilarious video catching the club’s kit man off guard. It’s also been claimed now, via Football Insider, that he’s told some close friends he’s aiming to make his return in around a month’s time.

This is certainly a huge boost given he had surgery on his hamstring back in mid-September on the issue, and the goals and rotation he’ll bring to the side when he’s back will be ever so useful. Last season saw Antonio chime in with 12 combined goals and assists, Transfermarkt, and those numbers could be key if he can add similar this season.

It’s not easy to recover from a muscle injury, but Antonio has done extremely well to on the cusp of being back as soon as he has, and when he does return it’ll be a relief of pressure on the likes of Andriy Yarmolenko, Felipe Anderson and Sebastien Haller to score goals, which is just what the Irons need.
