Opinion: West Ham could make a huge mistake by showing Pellegrini’s close ally the door

|

To the footballing world, it looked a lot like Manuel Pellegrini may well have saved his job by getting a huge three points at Stamford Bridge on the weekend. The Hammers have made a step in the right direction, but they might be about to take two steps backwards.

If the aim of the club is to turn things around and keep Pellegrini on board then they’ll have to to think very carefully about how they go about the staffing situation. The manager in charge is clearly an incredible tactician, and the last thing they’ll want is to sack him or have him walk away.

However, one of Pellegrini’s greatest allies at the club is his director of football Mario Husillos, and the rumours are rife that his future is in doubt as a result of his shocking performance with the signings he’s brought in (Claret and Hugh), but the club will have to be careful about it.

The report from the West Ham news website has claimed that the transfer guru is being headhunted by a number of Spanish clubs, and after a series of bad buys the Hammers are in no rush to hold onto him, with his decision to bring in Roberto being the main signing that looks to have cost him.

With that being said, Husillos is a huge friend and ally of Pellegrini and losing the Argentine doesn’t look like the best way to keep their gaffer happy, especially given the recent pressure that he’s been under with the poor performances from the team on the pitch.

Should Mario Husillos be sacked?

Yes

No

If Pellegrini is to be sacked in a few games should that Chelsea win prove to be a flash in the pan then Husillos will most likely go with him, but if he does turn it around then sacking Husillos could only frustrate the Chilean, seeing as his director of football is certainly his man as opposed to the clubs.
