Transfer News: West Ham squad set to become lighter after transfer news ahead of January window

|

West Ham supporters can be forgiven for expecting their side to be achieving better things this season. The Irons have got a lot of time to turn things around, yet so far it’s just not gone the right way under Manuel Pellegrini this season and the Hammers are languishing at the wrong end of the table.

However, one move that Pellegrini and co can rely on to turn the feelings from the fans around is to let Roberto Jimenez, the club’s massive Spanish flop, to leave the club when the January window opens, and it’s something that has recently been reported.

The update that Roberto could be set to leave the club has come from Football Insider, and if it turns out that there is truth in that rumour then it will make a lot of the Irons very happy seeing as the ex-Olympiacos goalkeeper has proven to be a shambolic option.

When Roberto first signed over the summer it was clear that he would be nothing more than a back-up option to the first choice Lukasz Fabianski, but as a result of the Polish ex-Arsenal man’s injury, Roberto has started, stuttered and now been dropped for third choice David Martin.

The report from Football Insider stated:

‘Manuel Pellegrini will free up space in their squad for a new keeper after giving the green light for Roberto to be sold following his axe at the weekend.’

‘A return to Spain is the most likely option for the 33-year-old, who joined the London club in the summer on a free transfer.’

‘It has proved to be a wretched piece of business by West Ham, who conceded 14 goals from his six Premier League starts, five of which were lost and the other drawn.’

Is Roberto the worst goalkeeper you've ever seen?

Yes

No

It’s hardly surprising to hear that the Spaniard is already being looked at as one who will be offloaded given his performances, and whilst it’s not something he’ll want on his CV, the sooner he’s gone the better from the Irons point of view.
