West Ham United have failed in their efforts to sign Michy Batshuayi on loan from Chelsea, per Football.London, and many West Ham fans cannot believe the club’s failings.
Batshuayi had been identified as a late target for Manuel Pellegrini after the club could not orchestrate a deal that would see Maxi Gomez arrive in the January window, or even the summer, as Celta Vigo reportedly walked away from all negotiations.
The Hammers are in need of another top-draw striker this month as Marko Arnautovic has begun to wrack up a consistent thread of injuries and the alternatives on offer are all well below the Austrian’s standards.
As such, the West Ham looked to their London rivals as the potential answer and approached Chelsea for both Batshuayi and his World Cup-winning teammate Olivier Giroud.
The French ace was not available to answer the call, however, as the Blues do not want to see him leave Stamford Bridge this month, while Batshuayi straight up rejected the chance to move to the London Stadium, per Football.London.
It is not the first time that the Belgian has rejected a chance of playing for West Ham, either, as the club attempted to sign the 23-cap international from Chelsea in 2016 and 2017 but to no avail.
The recurring theme of this particular saga has not impressed these fans…
