‘Meh’ – These West Ham fans were hardly gushing over transfer links for player they ‘cannot see in the Premiership’

To say some of our fans on Twitter were underwhelmed by the news that West Ham United were interested in signing Jefferson Savarino this summer might have to be considered an understatement of some sorts.

According to the ever-reliable insider ExWHUemployee, the Hammers are thought to be keen on the Real Salt Lake winger who has been trying to create a name for himself in the MLS this season, as has recorded 16 goals and 17 assists across 70 matches spanning the regular season and playoffs (per MLSSoccer).

That claim seems to have been backed up (or perhaps latched on to?) by Sky Sports as well, who have also gone on to state that Manuel Pellegrini will have Savarino watched by scouts as Venezuela compete in the Copa America.

Newcastle United are also believed to be interested in the 22-year-old and he is thought to be available for around £6million, which would fit in nicely with our current transfer budget.

Although that price would normally have to be considered a bargain fee for an up-and-coming player, many of the West Ham fans on Twitter were not too convinced about making a move for him this summer.

Many of them questioned whether we actually needed another winger being added to the squad, whilst others have admitted that they were not necessarily impressed with what they have seen from him when they have witnessed him in action for Real Salt Lake.

Here are just some of their reactions to the Savarino rumours…
