‘Massively out of our reach’ – Many West Ham fans react to surprising transfer report

|

West Ham fans have been quick to hit reply on Reddit after one user shared a report by Football.London discussing the club’s summer transfer plans, which included a surprising name.

The premise of the article was four star names and four bargain buys Mario Husillos could target in the close season to strengthen Manuel Pellegrini’s squad for next term.

Some of the names mentioned would be expected thanks to their ongoing links with a move to East London since the turn of the year, such as Celta Vigo’s Maxi Gomez.

The potential bargain buys have also been linked with moves to Stratford, such as Alaves’ centre-back Guillermo Maripan. However, Marca have claimed that we would have to pay his exit clause – set at €25million (£21.3m) – if we were to sign him, which does not really make him a cheap option.

Antonio Valencia would also not be cheap on the grand scale of things, as the Ecuadorian would likely demand to be one of our higher paid players upon his release from Manchester United.

But the surprising name to be included in their shopping list is Eintracht Frankfurt’s sensational centre-forward Luka Jovic, who Football.London does accept would be “the longest shot”.

That’s because the Serbian wonder, who is on loan at the Commerzbank-Arena with an option to buy, has caught the attentions of Barcelona as they look to find Luis Suarez’s successor, and he would like to move to Camp Nou, even if Mundo Deportivo suggest an agreement is still far off.

Sure, Jovic would be a superb addition to our ranks if Husillos could complete an extremely unlikely coop, but our chances to land the 22 goal, seven assist ace are beyond slim.

And when the four stars and four bargain buys shortlist was shared on Reddit, this is what you made of it…
