Manuel Lanzini’s future at West Ham United appears to have been thrown into doubt recently.
According to the reliable source of Hammers information ExWHUemployee, who was speaking on The West Ham Way podcast (6/6/19), the Argentine is not happy with the contract situation he and the club currently find themselves in.
It is claimed that the attacker is not happy with the set wage – which is thought to be around £70,000-a-week – and is looking at trying to do something about stopping the automatic renewal from happening.
It has been a very interesting few days regarding Lanzini, as the Mirror reported that West Ham were prepared to offer him a new five-year contract amid interest from Fenerbache before a report in Argentina by TYC Sports stated River Plate were interested in bringing the 26-year-old back home.
It surely goes without saying, but the South American is one of our best talents and is a truly gifted footballer. However, if the report is true, he is hardly going to be a favourite with the fans for much longer.
Just look at what happened with Marko Arnautovic in January. He seemed to desire a move to China and ended up taking more money from us with a new deal just days later.
And it seems fans on Twitter are not in a forgiving mood. Many of them would not mind seeing the back of Lanzini this summer if he were to try and leave, with a number of supporters feeling he is ‘massively overrated’ and would ‘not be bothered’ if he were to depart.
Here are some of their reactions…
Lanzini is a player who blows hot n cold, can play great but not a great player!
If will replace with better (not that difficult!) I wouldn’t miss him all that much.

Really not fussed about the possibility of Lanzini leaving

Also, I think Lanzini is massively overrated by some of our fans. Yes he’s good on his day, but he has never really stepped up to the plate since Payet left.
He goes missing far too often, he’s very inconsistent and he is injury prone. Anything between £20m-30m and I’d sell.

If the Lanzini rumours are true, he can jog on ????

Personally I’ve always liked Lanzini’s skill set but I’ve never got carried away with him as there are lots of flaws that get overlooked with him imo.
Really wouldn’t bother me that much as long as we replaced him with another creative player, hopefully a much better one

Not bothered if we sell Lanzini.
The phrase “on his day” needs to be left out of any football conversation. Consistency is key.
If Lanzini leaves just get Joao Mario for £15m. Move on.
