Benjamin Franklin once famously said that the only two things that are guaranteed in life are death and taxes, yet had he been alive today, Andy Carroll being injured would no doubt have made the list.

The former West Ham striker is reportedly set to miss his reunion with the east London club with Newcastle with The Evening Standard reporting that the 30-year-old attacker is out of this weekend’s game against the Hammers due to injury, the reason Carroll missed the Magpies’ last league game against Wolves.
Carroll’s time at West Ham was plagued with injuries as injury records from Transfermarkt show the former England striker spent more time on the recovery table than on the pitch, and this latest set-back for the Newcastle attacker was met with glee from Hammers fans, who saw the irony in the forward missing his comeback game against the east London side.
Here’s what some West Ham fans had to say about Carroll’s injury, with the majority of supporters admitting they aren’t surprised with the news…
Lol, is anyone surprised ? I’d be more surprised if he played ⚒⚒⚒

Some supporters, though, thought it was great that Carroll would be missing the game against the Hammers, who believed the 30-year-old attacker would have been destined to score if he played…
More like relief, he was a shoe in to score

Good! We all know he would have scored

I honestly dreamt he was going to score the winner against us.

As stats from Transfermarkt show, Carroll has had an underwhelming return at Newcastle, with the attacker failing to score yet for the Toon.
