Inkersole sheds light on West Ham dilemma as Moyes ponders summer move – Report

|

According to a report from reliable football.london journalist Sam Inkersole, West Ham United face a potential dilemma in the summer transfer window if they opt to make Tomas Soucek’s deal permanent – with the proposal not leaving much ‘wiggle room‘ for other business to be conducted.

Soucek, who arrived on loan from Slavia Prague in January, has reportedly impressed Hammers officials over the three Premier League games he has started for us – with the 25-year-old already averaging two tackles and two interceptions per 90 minutes according to WhoScored.

Hammers, would you snap up Soucek on a permanent deal if it meant no more summer spending?

In a heartbeat

We have to consider our options

The Czech Republic international, compared to the rest of our roster, has accumulated better defensive stats than the likes of Mark Noble and Aaron Cresswell this season – potentially outlining why the Hammers board and manager David Moyes are reportedly pondering a permanent deal for the player this summer.

Soucek’s fee, believed to be around £16.9 million, would apparently leave little wiggle room for other business to be done in the summer when it comes to the club’s finances – bringing a dilemma to the table as Moyes contemplates strengthening his squad for next season.

However, according to Inkersole, this is all dependent on whether or not we get relegated, with the current pandemic quashing club finances across the top flight and putting into question the likelihood of huge summer deals.

The journalist, whilst explaining that West Ham’s transfer policy won’t change too much, has also claimed that ex-boss Manuel Pellegrini’s expensive recruitment will be a ‘distant memory‘ in months to come.

Indeed, whether or not we do opt to secure Soucek on a permanent deal remains to be seen, but there is little arguing we won’t be able to splash the cash much elsewhere.
