‘Hit the panic button’ – Lots of West Ham fans fear 26-year-old’s likely return

The London Stadium may be about to welcome back Jordan Hugill, but West Ham fans are not happy.

Speculation that the 26-year-old will return to East London has come in for a lot of criticism from the fanbase online after West Ham News shared a report issued by Claret and Hugh, claiming that Middlesbrough have no intentions of trying to buy the striker in the summer.

C&H are suggesting that Boro’s fading aspirations of challenging for the Championship title, or even automatic promotion, has led Tony Pulis to second-guess whether the former Preston North End man would be worth keeping on.

At present, the Welshman is said to be leaning towards saying goodbye to the on-loan forward at the end of the term, who has only managed to find the back of the net six times in 32 games.

Hugill’s poor strike rate on Teesside is one of the leading reasons why his childhood side are struggling to mount a promotion challenge, as he is still Middlesbrough’s second top goalscorer despite his struggles – only four goals behind Britt Assombalonga.
