Many West Ham United fans have been reacting to comments made by the ex-Hammer Cheikhou Kouyate after he commented on his time at the London Stadium.
The 30-year-old moved to East London in 2014 from the Belgian giants Anderlecht and put pen to paper on a four-year contract, before leaving the club to join London rivals Crystal Palace in 2018 for £9.5m.
Speaking to Belgian outfit DH (via Evening Standard), Kouyate admitted that Tottenham wanted to sign him but hesitated as Bilic had tabled him a five-year contract which he decided to honour, but suggested that he changed clubs too late as he missed the opportunity to join them.
Did Kouyate have more to give at West Ham?
Yes
No
During his time with the Hammers, Kouyate scored 15 goals and provided 10 assists in 147 appearances, accumulated over 12,000 minutes in the claret and blue, as per TransferMarkt.
Taking this into consideration, supporters were not impressed with Kouyate’s comments and made their feelings clear on social media. One fan said that he is like a “headless chicken”, while said that he is a poor man’s Tomas Soucek and someone who has no technical ability.

This explains why he couldn’t have arsed after that. I used to like Kouyate too.

He’s only good as a central defender and even there he isn’t very reliable. I remember many times seeing players just jog right past him and he’d barely move or chase to try win the ball. Had 0 technical skill. Could win a header and run aimlessly around the pitch. That’s it

And offered a good contract 🤔 doesn’t make sense 🤷🏼♂️

What I’m hearing is…
I stayed at West Ham as they offered me more money than Spurs then as I was minted promptly stopped making an effort until I got sold to Palace”. https://t.co/GpDD7dMUX7
