Further proof of how good one of West Ham’s best players has been this season – opinion

|

If you asked any West Ham fan this season who their most impressive player was, a fair few would probably say Lukasz Fabianski.

We weren’t sure on the prospect of landing a goalkeeper in his 30s following his move from Swansea City, but it’s fair to say that his arrival in London has been a masterstroke at the London Stadium.

He’s emerged as one of our most important players, having been simply brilliant with everything from shot-stopping to offering leadership to simply providing a calming influence at the back of the West Ham team.

There have been too many games to count this season in which he’s put in a starring role, and that’s why he’s become so popular with fans.

His brilliant performances have been highlighted over on WhoScored.com, who statistically have indicated that he’s been the highest-rated goalkeeper in the Premier League this season.

When you consider the quality of the other players in the division, as well as the money involved, it becomes clear that his achievements are pretty extraordinary. He’s quickly looking like a steal for us! Diving into the stats, it’s no surprise that he’s been so highly-rated. With 3.7 saves per 90 minutes in addition to nearly 30 passes per 90 minutes (as per Who Scored), his influence has been remarkable. For comparison’s sake, Alisson of Liverpool has just 2 saves per 90 minutes this season (as per WhoScored).

We’ve needed a top class goalkeeper for a while, and in the Pole, we’ve certainly found one. Let’s hope he only gets better.
