Word On The Tweet

‘Did he play for us?’ – Lots of West Ham fans mocked club’s tweet and told them to ‘say it like you mean it’

West Ham United posted a tweet on Wednesday wishing Samir Nasri a happy birthday, however, fans decided it was the ideal time to mock the player and the club regarding the announcement.

The former France international will no longer be a Hammer in the coming days when his £80,000-a-week contract (The Sun) comes to an end and it is believed he could head out to Australia and join the newly-formed A-League outfit Western United this summer (Western Australian).

Nasri hardly managed to make an impact on the side in his six months with us as he spent much of it on the sidelines nursing injuries – perhaps that ban played havoc with his fitness and meant he was not quite ready to ever return to the Premier League after all.

Despite putting in two evergreen performances against Arsenal and Huddersfield Town, the 31-year-old made just six appearances for us (Transfermarkt).

Because of the few times he featured for us, a number of fans took the opportunity to leave some comments mocking his time with us on the club’s birthday message.

One fan asked if he ‘had played for us’, whilst another commented that he ‘was probably injured’ when receiving the message.

To make things worse (or funnier depending on the way you look at it), one fan even mocked the club for the way they worded the tweet which was worded: ‘Happy birthday ! Hope you had a good day!’. They replied with ‘say it like you mean it’.

Here are just some of their reactions…
