The 31-year-old defender played 45 minutes of football for New Zealand last night in their international friendly against Ireland after nearly two years out of senior football due to injury that has seen Reid close to 500 days of football as records from Transfermarkt show.
Despite losing 3-1 to the Boys in Green, Reid was met with praise and well wishes from West Ham supporters on social media, who were excited to see the centre-back return to the pitch after an incredibly long period out on the sidelines.
Here’s what some West Ham fans had to say about Reid’s return to senior football on Twitter…

Reid has been recalled back to West Ham following the 3-1 loss to Ireland as reported by Football London, meaning that the Irons captain could be in-lin to return to the London Stadium to face city rivals Tottenham next week.
